Film log #3

Film log #3
Berkeley in bloom

I just finished up graduating from Berkeley. The following are frames from my last semester.

This spring semester felt great. I was on campus and really learning. The top middle, top right and bottom left are all photos from the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies. I took a class titled Sound and Music Computing with Jon Kulpa. For one class only, we were in the physical center. It's on Arch St, literally a couple doors down from where I lived the past two years. It was such a cool class and experience: I really grew in my musical abilities.

I went out to a lot of great sets this semester, ranging from drum and bass to hardstyle to bachata (and always house!) I've really been pushing myself to listen to and learn from people in different genres. I got to do that a lot this semester. It led to a lot of growth for me musically.

Good vibes. Random shots from Berkeley and San Francisco.

I had my first DJ set in a long time around the middle of this roll of film. The top left and middle were frames from that night: my friends came to support me and catch a vibe with me (really many vibes). I'm going to keep pushing my music, and this was a core experience that will drive me to do that. Hopefully my next roll of film will contain frames from my next album release.

These last frames are from the Free Palestine encampment and my graduation. It wouldn't be a full film log without mention of how important it is to not just forget about and compartmentalize genocide: it is really happening and expanding, all while the US continues to fund and enable it. In every graduation I attended and took part in, people (including myself) made sure to make visible our support for Palestine. It is literally the least we can do for the martyrs.

Until next time.
